An aqueous thixotropic liquid composition comprising water, a thixotropic thickener, a means to increase the physical stability of the composition, chlorine bleach and detergent builder, said composition containing alkali metal and alkaline earth metal components in amount sufficient to provide a pH of at least 11.2, when 10 grams of the composition is added to one liter of water, wherein the composition provides improved rheological behavior and physical stability with low residue left in the bottle and a new aesthetic effect in a translucent appearance.
