PURPOSE:To make the whole of a device compact by shortening a distance between a transfer member and a fixing device, and to omit a carrying device for carrying a medium to be printed from the transfer member to the fixing device. CONSTITUTION:A toner image formed on a photosensitive drum 2 by an electrifier 3, an exposing device 5, a developing device 6, etc., is transferred on the medium to be printed P grasped by a transfer drum 9, at a transfer position M1, and then, the medium to be printed P is separated from the transfer drum 9 at a separating position M2. The fixing device 17 is disposed apart from the separating position M2, by an approach run distance for fixing LS. When fixing speed is reduced by using a thick medium to be printed P, etc., a transfer is completely performed to the medium to be printed P, and then, the rotational speed of the transfer drum 9 is reduced by a controller 30. The transfer is completed after a medium leading edge position detecting member 21 and a medium leading edge sensor 22 detect the leading edge of the medium to be printed P, and then, a prescribed time determined in image forming process conditions, etc., lapses. Thus, the approach run distance for the fixing Ls can be shortened by an Lc corresponding to the interval of the transfer and separating positions M1 and M2, and the carrying device can be omitted, as well. |
