PURPOSE:To obtain the small scale decoder of compression-coded data which is suited to an IC by reducing a memory capacity. CONSTITUTION:This device is equipped with converting means 22, 24, 27, and 28 which detect a Huffman code HCD from the inputted compression-coded data, and converts the Huffman code HCD into the data with a fixed data length shorter than the maximum code length, decoding means 29 which outputs the decoded data of the Huffman code HCD and the Huffman code length based on a conversion table stored in a memory by using the data converted by the converting means 22, 24, 27, and 28 as an address, and control means 26 and 32 which apply a timing for detecting the next Huffman code HCD to the converting means 22, 24, 27, and 28, based on the Huffman code length outputted from the decoding means 29. |
