PURPOSE:To improve SHG efficiency as to technology for obtaining the optical second higher harmonics generating element, specially, an optical higher harmonics generating elements which extracts light having wavelength a half as long as that of a fundamental wave light source by forming periodic domain inversion structure and a proton exchange waveguide for confining light tightly, specially, on a lithium niobate crystal surface. CONSTITUTION:On an x-y orthogonal coordinate system which indicates phase matching wavelength lambdamum on its (x) axis and a domain inversion period LAMBDAon its (y) axis, the phase matching wavelength lambdamum and domain inversion period length LAMBDAmum are set in a range determined by connecting respective coordinate points a(0.78, 0.9), b(0.9, 2.3), c(0.9, 3.4), and d(0.78, 2.0) in order by straight lines. |
