Additional armouring, esp. for submarine cables, has U-shaped grooves (3e) for the cables (4) and uses high-tensile elements, pref. steel ropes (2e), hot dip galvanised or bituminised and coated with polyolefin. Strands of glass or plastic threads are also possible.
