Controller for motor vehicle IC engine - contains engine speed and wheel slip sensors and suppresses faulty combustion detection when wheel slip occurs

The controller (1) contains an engine speed sensor (4) which feeds a corresp. signal to the controller which detects faulty combustion when the engine speed fluctuates abnormally. The controller receives at least one other input signal (S) with which drive wheel slip can be detected. The identification of faulty combustion processes is suppressed when wheel slip and abnormal speed fluctuations occur simultaneously. An evaluating unit (6) forms a difference between wheel speeds (nl,nr) as detected by sensors (7,8). USE/ADVANTAGE - Eliminates erroneous detection of faulty combustion when vibrations caused by wheel slip occur at same frequency as vibrations caused by faulty combustion processes.
