Tractor 4-wheel drive switching control - responds to detected power direction for each drive axle to control switched couplings

The 4-wheel drive switching control uses an evaluation circuit (20), receiving signals representing power direction for each of drive trains to 2 wheel axles and providing control signals for a switched clutch (7) between the drive (6) and the driven axle (4) for the steered wheels (5), or for switched clutches (7,8) between the drive and each drive axle (2,4). Pref. the switched couplings each incorporate a power direction switch, with the coupling disengaged when a negative power direction for the corresponding drive axle (2,4) is detected. ADVANTAGE - Improved drive traction. One drive axle is disconnected when danger of tension occurs.
