PURPOSE:To achieve higher measuring accuracy by labeling a carrier particle by a second label different from the first label which labels an active substance for a specified component to detect the first label with the detection of the second label as trigger. CONSTITUTION:Compound bodies 31 and 32 of carrier particles. a substance to be detected and a fluorescent substance. a fluorescent labeled substance 3a, a substance 33 to be detected, carrier particles 33C and others such as dust and bubbles are mixed in a sample liquid which flows through a passage part of a flowcell so as to be contained in a sheath liquid 34. When a laser beam is emitted from a laser light source 2, a fluorescent light 1 is generated from the particles 33c and a scattered light and a fluorescent light 2 are generated from the substance 33a. As the compound bodies 31 and 32 pass by the irradiation position, the scattered light and the fluorescent lights 1 and 2 are all generated. So, when the fluorescent light i is detected, the carrier particles 33c is identified to detect the fluorescent light 2 with the particles as trigger. Thus, a label intrinsic to the carrier particles as applied and detected thereby enabling highly accurate measurement.
