<p>PURPOSE:To reduce the hardware scale of an orthogonal transformation device by using a multiplier in time-division manner, in the orthogonal transformation device used as the pre- and post-processing of the high efficiency encoding of a picture signal. CONSTITUTION:In the orthogonal transformation device which carries out an 8 point cosine transformation, a multiplier except the power of 2 is 8 by using a special high speed algorithm. Therefore, a time multiplexing is attained by using a multiplier 32 which executes one time of multiplication by one sample, and a selector 30, and the product is inputted to a rearranging equipment 34, 35, or 18. As the result, the 8 point cosine conversion can be executed by one multiplier whose hardware scale is large, so that the hardware scale of the orthogonal transformation device can be reduced.</p> |
