<p>Apparatus for producing aimpoint assessment output data in target acquisition training comprises a projector (17) which projects on to a screen (16) an optical image which includes a target (15) and which is generated from picture elements derived from a video signal source, a weapon or simulated weapon (14) provided for an aimer (11) for acquisition of the target (15) by the aimer (11) who brings an aimpoint axis of the weapon (14) on to the target (15), and a video camera (13) on the weapon (14) which generates camera video signals representative of a field of view about the aimpoint axis of the weapon (14). The optical image projected by the projector (17) includes high visibility bar patterns (27, 28) which extend transverse to the scanning lines of the projected optical image on each side of the target and present a plurality of high visibility discrete zones appearing as white sections of each bar pattern (27, 28) which alternate with black sections. A microprocessor computes from the camera video signals representing the high visibility zones aimpoint assessment outputs measured with respect to reference coordinates which are based on the coordinates of the centroids of the high visibility zones.</p> |
