The intake has an air filter with a housing, having an air intake with a tube. It also has an RPM-dependent gas exchange control. The air filter (7) has a second shorter air intake (10), and a shut off (12), actuated by a servo motor (13). The device is for selective shut off of the first or second air intake dependent upon engine RPM. The second air intake is formed by an opening in the air filter housing, which opens directly into the atmosphere. The shut off is formed by a pivoted flap, which selectively acts on one or other air intake. ADVANTAGE - Improved cylinder charging performance.
