Prodn. comprises (i) machining to a lens shape a hard polymer blend consisting of soft lens material and a hard polymer; and then (ii) removing the hard polymer from the prod. The blend is pref. prepd. by impregnating a monomer onto the soft lens material and then polymerising it. The soft lens material is pref. a polymer prepd. from monomers of formula (I) and/or (II). In formulae, R = H or CH3; n = 0 or 1, with proviso that when n = 1, R = H; Rf = -CaHbF2a+1-b where a = integer 1-7 and b = 0 or 1; and m = 0, 1 or 2.
