PURPOSE:To provide the optical dynamic range compression device which can suppress the generation of signal distortion and a noise by making the dynamic range of the output light of an O/E converter on the terminal side of an optical transmission line smaller than the dynamic range of the incident light to the O/E converter. CONSTITUTION:An optical component 4 made of photochromic glass obtained by doping glass with silver halide is interposed in front of the O/E converter 3 at the terminal of the optical transmission line 1. Consequently, the dynamic range of the input light can be compressed just before the O/E converter 3 at the terminal side of the optical transmission line 1, so the dynamic range of the electric signal converted by the O/E converter 3 is reduced. |
