PURPOSE:To prevent the increase in an overhead in the multi-cast communica tion by storing a line from which a fault is detected and suppressing the transmission of the multi-cast data to the line from which a fault is detected. CONSTITUTION:When a faulty line is detected based on end information of the multi-cast communication from a communication interface section 106 in a host computer 100, a pattern of a destination pattern table 104 is revised. Then the communication interface section 106 implements multi-cast communication based on a destination pattern table 109 copied from the destination pattern table 104 to be revised. That is, in the case of multi-cast communication, the multi-cast data transmission to the faulty line is instructed to prevent expiration of a multi-cast communication processing end watchdog timer. Since the revision processing of the destination pattern table 104 is implemented by a CPU 101, the effect of the communication interface section 106 onto a communication processing load is avoided.
