Themask image assigned to the background is subtracted from each projection image. The mask is derived using for each image point the image values of the projection images in the sequence. To generate the mask image the image values of several projection images are compared. The image values corresponding to the smallest absorption form the image values for the image point of the mask image. The projection images controlled by ECG signals that occur during the fast heart phase are used to generate the mask image. The generation of mask images is repeated several times during a sequence.
