Described is the use of a known per se continuously operating machine for reprocessing sandwich-type plaster boards. Coarsely pre-ground material is fed into the continuously operating machine and the ground material (20) inside the machine passed through a container (4) in a spiral path. Tools (18, 18', 18'', 18''') mounted on a shaft (7) lying along the longitudinal axis of the container and rotating at a speed corresponding to a Froude number Fr >/= 7, break up the pre-ground material (20) to an extent such that a particle-size distribution is obtained which allows the effective use of calciners.
