PURPOSE:To enable a secure start under all operating conditions by connecting a series circuit consisting of a glow starter, a bimetal switch, and a resistor that heats this bimetal switch in parallel to a luminous tube. CONSTITUTION:Electrodes 2 and 3 are provided on both ends of a luminous tube 1 made of transparent ceramics, etc. and sodium amalgam and xenon are sealed in the luminous tube 1. In addition, a series circuit built up with a glow starter 4, a bimetal switch 5, and a resistor 10 including a tungusten filament that heats the bimetal 5, and such is connected in parallel to the luminous tube 1. Furthermore, a starting auxiliary conductor 6 is attached on the external surface of the luminous tube 1 and a second bimetal switch 7 that disconnects the potential to the auxiliary conductor 6 while a lamp is operating is provided. As a result, the lamp can securely be started under all operating conditions. |
