In the cross duct (1) of the steam boiler (2) is an ash funnel and the heating surfaces (4). In the intermediate space (5) between the heating surfaces is a basket-type burning chamber (6) inclined or horizontal in the direction of the ash funnel (3). The burnable material is fed into a high temp. zone of the coal dust firing, the flue gases flow through it and it is burnt and the gases are taken into the flue gas current. The ashes are taken out with the flue gas current and/or drop out. The burnable material is fed with combustion air in the high temp. zone. USE/ADVANTAGE - To burn combustible but not grindable waste material from a power plant in the coal dust firing of a steam boiler.
