A workpiece clamping device has a clamping plate with holes arranged in parallel rows of a regular grid for securing clamping units associated to the clamping plate. The holes (4) of contiguous rows are mutually offset by half the spacing between holes (b = a/2) and the spacing (c) between contiguous rows equals c = a/2 2ROOT 3, so that groups of three adjacent securing holes (4) located at the vertices of an imaginary equilateral base triangle (6) are obtained. The clamping units (10, 12, 14) have each at least one group of securing holes (22, 24) that correspond to a base triangle of the clamping plate (2). As a result of this grid arrangement of holes, freely centered rows of holes with respect to a desired center point of the clamping plate are obtained, as well as perpendicular rows and columns of holes, so that the device offers universal clamping possibilities. |
