PURPOSE: To provide an optical system for an inexpensive LCD projector by increasing luminance and realizing a hue of high resolution. CONSTITUTION: The optical system is constituted of a high luminance illumination system 1, a B light component transmission filter 2, a G light component reflector 3, total reflectors 4, 5, 7, lenses 13 to 15 for respectively converging B, G and R light components, liquid crystal panels 10 to 12 for respectively generating B, G and R images from the B, G and R light components, an R image reflector 6, a B image transmission filter 8, and a projection lens 9 to generate image from respective separated light components and synthesize them. A light source is constituted of a metal halide lamp. |
