PURPOSE:To detect the segmentation position of a picture with a high precision regardless of a complicated form or less change of the intensity of light by using color components to surely obtain only edge parts of a specific object at the time of detecting the position, where only a desired picture is segmented from a natural picture taken in from a terecamera, with a high precision. CONSTITUTION:Picture data read out from a picture recorder 15 is stored in a picture memory 14, and a pointing device 13 is used to input a rough outline. A picture processing device 10 automatically performs the precise picture segmentation position detection processing based on inputted outline information and separates the segmentation position of the object from a two-dimensional digital picture and stores the separation result in a segmenting memory 16.
