The cam block (4) is displaceable on the camshaft (1) relatively to a transmission lever (10) and axially against the force of a return spring (11) working in the direction of effect of the second cam (6). A pressure piece is provided with a lift profile (13) running over at least a part periphery of the camshaft. For the cam block (4) is provided a hydraulic arresting device (18) on the camshaft in its axial position when the first cam (5) is effective. The lift profile (13) is formed by a face surface of a pressure ring (14). USE/ADVANTAGE - The low loss operation of the lift valve is ensured with low friction contact between the effective cam and the transmission lever.
