Gas cleaning and recycling system - useful for metal powder atomising or pressing unit

(A) Cleaning and recycling of gas which is fed to a unit (1) (3.g. a metal powder prodn. of compaction unit) at elevated pressure and which leaves the unit at low pressure, are carried out in a circuit in which the gas is mechanically and/or chemically cleaned by filters (2-5), liquefied with liq. N2, transferred to a liq. gas reservoir (14), fed by a high pressure pump (16) to an evaporator (17) and then retruned to the unit (1). The liq gas can be transferred to a closed intermediate reservoir (8) in which a heater (9) raises its temp. and thus presure until the liq. gas can be transferred by the pressure increase into the liq. gas reservoir (14). (B) Appts., for carrying out the process, is also claimed. USE/ADVANTAGE - The process is useful for recycling atomising gas used in metal powder prodn. or gas used in isostatic powder pressing. It avoids the need for a compressor and a liquefied gas pump so that investment costs are reduced.
