Supports for mining roadway - comprise arch sections formed into polygon and secured by bolted end plates and lockable hinges

The support system is for a mining roadway. It comprises a number of arch sections (7,8) formed into a polygon by bolting integral end plates (10,11) together. In the angle formed by two adjacent sections there are hinges (18,19,21,23) which lock together. The hinges consists of a lug (22) on one plate (21) fitting in a slot in the other plate (23) and locked in by a pivoted lever (24). USE/ADVANTAGE - The sections of the mining roadway support are set in exact position without difficulty.
