A television signal processing apparatus for converting a television signal comprising baseband video with an aural subcarrier into a composite video and audio intermediate frequency signal has a splitter for splitting the television signal into identical first and second signals, and first and second signal paths for processing the first and second signal. The first signal path has a bandpass filter for filtering the video information to provide a filtered audio signal and a mixer for modulating the filtered audio signal onto an intermediate frequency to provide an audio intermediate frequency signal. The second signal path has a mixer for modulating the second signal onto an intermediate frequency to provide a video intermediate frequency signal combined with an audio subcarrier and a filter for filtering the audio subcarrier from the video intermediate frequency signal. The apparatus includes a further mixer for combining the audiointermediate frequency signal with the video intermediate frequency signal to produce a composite audio and video intermediate frequency signal.
