PURPOSE:To easily obtain a catalyst which gives high conversion rate to n- butane, etc., and high yield of maleic acid anhydride by constituting the catalyst of multiple oxide catalyst containing vanadium, phosphorous and bismuth and specifying the atomic ratios of these structural elements. CONSTITUTION:The catalyst for production of maleic acid anhydride consists of a multiple oxide catalyst containing vanadium, phosphorous and bismuth. Atomic ratios of these elements are set to 1.00-1.10 phosphorous/vanadium and 0.01 0.10 bismuth/vanadium. This catalyst is produced by heating and refluxing vanadium pentoxide in the presence of benzyl alcohol and isobutyl alcohol. Further, phosphoric acid and bismuth trichloride are added thereto. The precipitate obtd. by refluxing is filtered, dried and calcined. Thus, the catalyst which gives high conversion rate to n-butane, etc., and high yield of maleic acid anhydride can be easily produced. |
