PURPOSE:To improve reliability for detection of color density by a method wherein after obtaining in a density level reference value and a density level to be inspected by adding a plurality of image signal levels corresponding to a plurality of inspection objective areas for each area, those are compared with each other to detect color density. CONSTITUTION:In order to detect color density of a print, a printing surface of a reference print Q is firstly scanned in a direction normal to this transfer direction with a sensor camera 1. Then, an image signal from the sensor camera 1 is inputted to an adding part 6 for each block, and the printing surface is divided into a number of block like inspection objective areas. Further, each image signal level corresponding to each inspection objective area is individually added to obtain a density level reference value of each inspective area. Then the density level reference value is stored in a master memory 9. After obtaining a density level to be inspected of each inspection objective area, a density level from a density table 12 is compared with the density level reference value from a memory processing part 7 with a comparison part 11. |
