PURPOSE:To enable sensitivity and responsiveness to be maintained at a high level over a long period of time with a compact and inexpensive device by using a gas sensor with a solid electrolyte for a carbon dioxide concentration analysis instrument and feeding oxygen to the sensor for activation. CONSTITUTION:An oxidizer and an oxidation liquid solution are fed from a reaction liquid supply means 4 to a sample liquid, are led to a deaerator 6 for eliminating an inorganic carbon, and then are led to a reaction equipment 12. The oxidizer and an organic carbon within the sample liquid are allowed to react under a high-temperature pressurized state by the reaction equipment 12, carbon dioxide is generated, it is separated into carbon dioxide and drain by an eductor 20, it is led to a carbon dioxide concentration analyzer 25, and then an organic carbon content within the sample liquid is calculated from the measured carbon dioxide concentration. A gas sensor 32 using a solid electrolyte of sodium ion conductor is used for the analyzer 25 and oxygen gas is poured through a pipe 34, thus enabling the solid electrolyte which deteriorated due to nitrogen gas to be activated. The sensor 32 has a better response than that of an infrared rays gas analyzer and can eliminate the need for a dehumidificator since it is not affected by water content. |
