<p>PURPOSE:To optimize the time required for a repositioning operation and to shorten the time of instruction execution. CONSTITUTION:By detecting the generation of an instantaneous speed variation(ISV) after the repositioning and the generation of an error, the number of ISV errors which the ISV detection and error detection are generated at the same time, is counted. This value and the prescribed number of ISV errors which is taken as a reference, are compared, thereby the stop time of a magnetic tape at the next repositioning time is changed. Thus, the time required for the repositioning operation can be optimized, the time of instruction execution from the device is shortened, and the throughput of data process on the magnetic tape can be made best.</p> |
