PURPOSE:To allow the safe, easy and accurate formation of the end part of an optical fiber array by forming a coating to be removed of a photosensitive resin and removing this coating by a photochemical treatment. CONSTITUTION:Such tape-shaped optical fiber array 1 which is integrated with plural pieces of optical fibers 2 disposed in parallel at equal intervals on one plane by sandwiching these photosensitive resin from above and below is formed. A prescribed mask 5 is disposed on the upper side of the optical fiber array 1 and is exposed in the case of removal of the coating (photosensitive resin) 3 at one end of this optical fiber array 1. The optical fiber array 1 is then exposed and the photosensitive thereof is etched away. An aligning member 7 having V grooves of the number corresponding to the number of the optical fibers 2 is placed on the optical fibers at the end part where the coating is removed in such a manner, by which the optical fibers 2 are aligned and fixed with good accuracy. The end part of the optical fiber array is safely, surely, efficiently and effectively formed with the good accuracy in this way. |
