The aq. dispersion contains, as binder, a crosslinkable dispersion copolymer of olefinically unsatd. monomers and opt. further standard constituents of lacquer compsns. The dispersed copolymers have average particle size 0.5-10 mu. The novelty consists in that the proportion of crosslinkable gp.-bearing comonomer units in the dispersion copolymer is over 10 (11-25) wt.% w.r.t. the copolymer. The dispersion copolymer is prepd. by emulsion- or suspension copolymerisation with the addn. of radical chain transfer agents, esp. cpds. contg. mercapto gps. The aq. dispersion is useful as a constituent of stoving lacquers, hydro-fillers, metallic lacquers and electropowder coatings.
