A power-assisted steering, especially for motor vehicles, has a servo-motor (2), a servo-pump (3), a tank (4) and a control valve (1) containing two valve pistons (6, 7) at each end of which there is a reaction chamber (12-15). The reaction chambers (12-15) are diagonally interconnected in pairs by diagonal lines (16, 17), whereby the valve pistons (6, 7) can be caused to move in both steering directions by an actuator. In addition there is a control member (22) with a throttle cross-section which can change depending on the vehicle speed to which reaction chambers (12, 14) are connected via a shared connector, whereby the reaction chambers are connected to the control member via a fixed throttle point. At a predetermined working pressure, two reaction chambers (13, 14 or 15, 12) can be largely cut off.
