<p>PURPOSE:To provide the title novel derivative capable of selectively, efficiently and continuously transporting and separating cupric ions, also useful as an ionophore enabling said ions' concentration against to the concentration gradient taking advantage of the pH difference between both aqueous phases. CONSTITUTION:The objective compound of the formula (R is alkyl, aralkyl or aryl), for example, N,N-bis(8-quinolyl)-2-butyrylaminoglutamic acid amide. The present compound can be obtained by reaction of a mixed acid anhydride of amino group-protected glutamic acid with two equivalents of 8-aminoquinoline followed by detaching the protecting group for the amino group and then reaction with one equivalent of an acid halide. For making a cation transport, using the present compound as ionophore, two kinds of solution A and B are indirectly brought into mutual contact through the present compound.</p> |
