PURPOSE:To produce an optically active (S)-(+)-3-halo-1,2-propanediol by treating a 1,3-dihalo-2-propanol with a dehalogenase originated from microorganisms, and subsequently to recover the produced optically active compound. CONSTITUTION:A (S)-(+)-3-halo-1,2-propanediol useful as a raw material for synthesizing optically active physiologically active substances such as medicines can effectively be produced. |
