PURPOSE:To reduce fatigue of a driver at steady turning by providing a second setting means in which an assisting force larger than the assisting force of a first setting means according to steady turning state is set. CONSTITUTION:A control unit 60 has a function to judge if it is in the steady turning state, that is, a steering wheel 13 held or not from outputs of a steering angle sensor 62 and a steering angular velocity sensor 63. When brought into the steady turning state, a control means which has been operated so far by an assisting force set by a first setting means is operated according to the assisting force set by a second setting means. Here, as the assisting force set by the second setting means is set at a value larger than the assisting force set by the first setting means and suitable for steady turning, a holding force of the steering wheel is reduced at steady turning. Thus, burden of a driver becomes smaller and fatigue of the driver can be reduced. |
