PURPOSE:To attain a color liquid crystal display device which is thin in thickness, light in weight and low in power consumption by providing a color filter and a black matrix optimizing the dispersion amt. of pigment. CONSTITUTION:A substance obtained by setting the dispersion amt. of the pigment within the range of 0% to 25% is used for the color filter 138 and the black matrix 137 to be formed under one of transparent electrodes 133 and 134. Besides, the display device is constituted of a display panel provided with one or more sheets of double refractive film 121 between one of polarizing plates 111 and 112 arranged so as to interpose the panel and a backlight arranging a fluorescent lamp 151 in the long-side direction of a light transmission body 152. Thus, the display device which is thin in thickness, light in weight and low in power consumption is attained. Besides, a bright and high-contrast display is obtained. |
