The hollow crush section (1) has the crush end located in a recess in a rigid fitting (2) with the crushed profile pressed into the recess during impact. The outer edge of the recess has a cutting edge (7) which slides over the outside of the section and strips off any attachments (5) during impact. The attachments are secured by spot welding or by adhesive. They include battery mountings, lamp brackets etc. The stripped outer profile of the section provides additional profile length for crushing. ADVANTAGE - Increased crush ability, simple removal of attachments.
