If the electric rotary machine is to operate in the motor mode, appropriate electric power is supplied to the electric rotary machine based on the engine load, the accelerator pedal depression, and the speed of rotation of the turbine of the turbocharger, for increasing the speed of rotation of the turbocharger to quickly increase the boost pressure developed by the turbocharger.
