The invention relates to a folding vehicle hood whose hood cover 3, which can be stretched over a supporting hood frame 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, has laterally unsecured border regions 3a which are connected to an associated leg of a corner strut 8 via straps 22 and are only pulled into a fixed tensioned position, via a relative swinging movement of the corner strut 8, during the closure of the hood. In order to be able to fix hood cover corners present in the corner region between the hood pillars 5 and the material retaining hoop 9 on the hood pillar by means of the tensioning advance of the straps 22, a rearwardly offset intermediate deflection of the straps on the associated leg of the material retaining hoop is provided. Further straps 23 may be provided to similarly fix hood lining corners 21a in the corner region. The straps may be of adjustable length by having the end loop length adjustable by a fastener. <IMAGE>
