Adjustable dual-detector image data acquisition system.

An imaging system for acquiring imaging data generated by an object positioned about a lateral axis (48) is described. The system comprises first and second detectors (4) which can be rotated about the object in a circular path, with the angular displacement between the two detectors around the circular path being adjustable to a selected magnitude. Preferably the detectors can also be moved toward or away from the lateral axis to increase the resolution of the system. A method for acquiring image data utilizing such a system is also described. <IMAGE>
