PURPOSE:To obtain a power supply in which at least one switching element is shared between a chopper section and an inverter section and wherein improvement of distortion of input current, suppression of low frequency ripple in the output voltage, and suppression of stress in circuit elements are achieved simultaneously. CONSTITUTION:A rectifying section DB converts AC voltage of an AC power supply AC through a power supply filter D into DC pulsating voltage which is then subjected to boost/chopper operation at a series circuit of a chopper inductor L1 and a switching element Q1 at an inverter section A. Electromagnetic energy stored in the inductor L1 is then discharged through a diode D2 to a smoothing capacitor C1 thus charging the smoothing capacitor C1. The inverter section A sustains high frequency oscillation with charges stored in the smoothing capacitor C1 as power supply. A control section C1 sustains continuity of current flowing through the chopper inductor L1 thus suppressing stress to be applied on the circuit element. |
