PURPOSE:To provide the optical semiconductor module for signal transmission and reception which is small in size and is excellent in mass productivity. CONSTITUTION:An LD 1, a photodiode 7, condenser lenses 2, 3 disposed in front thereof, and a triangular prism 17 deposited with a half mirror 26 by evaporation on the side face for branching and coupling light are positioned by packaging the LD 1 on a same silicon substrate 4 onto a metallic thin film electrode 5, packaging the lenses into a spherical lens groove 6 and packaging the prism into a prism groove 19. The LD 1 and an optical fiber 23 are coupled and packaged via the lenses and the prism. Metallic patterns and the grooves are formed in the positions to be optically coupled on the same substrate and the optical parts are disposed and fixed thereto, by which the optical semiconductor module is produced with the small size and good reproducibility and mass productivity. |
