摘要 Corrosion-resistant sheet metal is wound to form a laminated ring before it is compressed in a mould to its final non-circular shape. The novelty is that the supporting structure is produced by winding the metal layers in a star or cross pattern before the structure is then inserted in a negative mould and compressed to its final shape. The change in supporting structure dimension does not deviate more than 20 per cent from the original wound circular shape. A suitable structure (10,13) is made of sheet metal (11,12) wound in a star or cross pattern and is subsequently compressed to its final shape in a mould (22,23). The mould consists of at least two parts. The dimensions of the mould surfaces do not deviate more than 20 per cent from those of the uncompressed structure.
