<p>PURPOSE:To provide a plant growth-promoting and freshness-retaining agent capable of promoting growth, controlling diseases and harmful insects, improving taste of harvested crops and retaining the freshness of plants. CONSTITUTION:A plant growth-promoting and freshness-retaining agent showing the above-mentioned effects is obtained by blending, as the active components, (A) papain and (B) an organic acid such as citric acid, lactic acid, succinic acid, malic acid, aspartic acid, glutamic acid, tartaric acid, gluconic acid, acetic acid or fumaric acid preferably in an amount of (B) = 0.05-20 pts.wt., especially 0.5-5 pts.wt. based on (A) = 1 pt.wt., while satisfying that (A)+(B)= about 0.01-100wt.%, preferably about 2-100wt.%. In addition, the suitable application amount of the above-mentioned active components is about 0.001-10g/m<2>, preferably about 0.01-5g/m<2> and the application time can be selected from times after and before seeding and arbitrary times during growth. The freshness of harvested crops can be retained by immersing the above-mentioned harvested crops, e.g. in an aqueous solution of the above-mentioned active components one several times or by spray application.</p> |
