PURPOSE:To obtain excellent durability and traveling property by providing a top coat layer formed by combining a specific fluorine lubricant and fluorine polymer on the surface of a magnetic layer. CONSTITUTION:This magnetic recording medium is constituted by providing a magnetic layer on a nonmagnetic base. The top coat layer contg. an amorphous fluoropolymer and perfluoroalkyl polyether is formed on this magnetic layer. This amorphous fluoropolymer is a polymer which can form a film having high heat resistance, non-tackiness and water repellency and further having extremely high rigidity. On the other hand, the perfluoroalkyl polyether has a repeating unit of oxyfluoroalkylene, such as -(CF2)n-, and exhibits an excellent lubricating effect in the part of this repeating unit. Then, the magnetic recording medium constituted by providing the top coat layer contg. both mentioned above on the magnetic layer is small in coefft. of friction and has the tough surface. |
