PURPOSE:To provide the automatic exposure controller for a video camera by which an optimal exposure control can be always attained regardless of a photographing circumstance or a photographing situation. CONSTITUTION:An image pickup device which sets an input parameter being an evaluation reference based on luminance information from an image pickup signal, and operates the exposure control by using plural control parameters such as an iris 2, shutter speed, and gain which operates the exposure control according to the value of the input parameter, is equipped with at least more than two data tables 19a and 19b which store the control characteristic of each control parameter which operates the exposure control according to the value of the input parameter, and the data tables can be arbitrarily selected according to the photographing mode so that each parameter can be controlled according to the photographing condition. |
