CONSTITUTION:The magnetic recording and reproducing device is provided with a first guide part 37s guiding by abutting a reference edge at the time of travelling a magnetic tape and a second guide part 37o guiding by abutting a reference edge at the time of stopping a magnetic tape. The relation between the area near the start end part of one guide part in the first and second guide parts 37s and 37o and the area near the other terminal end part is that they are separated each other in the generatrix direction of the lower drum of a drum DA or a part Db of the lower drum and overlapped each other in the circumferential direction.
