The present invention is particularly useful for increasing responsiveness of helper T-cells. The method of the present invention comprises administering to a patient a protein selected from the group consisting of TraT, OmpA, OmpF and parts thereof and a pharmaceutically acceptable carrier. Preferably, at least one other antigen is administered. The present invention should be particularly useful in the treatment of HIV positive patients.
