<p>Needles (4) are guided by sliders (3) on which are provided swing able selecting jacks (5). The selecting jacks are equipped with two guiding butts (51, 52) alternately selectable to be engaged with cam paths (10, 13; 23, 27) to guide the needles in the knitting or non-knitting positions. Means (17) act on the swinging selecting jacks to select the needle at a point where the needles are inserted in both the upper and lower slides.
