PURPOSE:To provide a rare earth type hydrogen storage alloy capable of satisfying various conditions required for hydrogen storage alloy and removing the defects of the conventional alloy, that is, small amount of hydrogen occlusion and relatively large hysteresis, and also to provide a hydrogen storage electrode free from reduction in capacity even at high temp. and showing superior high temp. characteristics. CONSTITUTION:The rational formula of the rare earth type hydrogen storage alloy is by atomic ratio, LnNixAlyCozBuMv (where Ln means rare earth metal or a mixture thereof, M means at least one element selected from among Fe, Cr, Cu, Nb, V, and Zr, the symbols (x), (y), (z), (u), (v) stand for 3.0-5.0, >0-<0.9, 0.1-1.5, 0.01-0.4, 0-1.5, respectively, and 4.0<=x+t+z+u+v<=6.0). Further, the hydrogen storage electrode used for the cathode of a nickel-hydrogen battery is constituted of the above-mentioned alloy. |
